I am always a little reluctant to record my songs, feeling that the recording quality that my setup affords would limit their potential, and that I would be better off waiting until I have a better quality studio setup. However, one day during the Summer of 2013, I dug out my old vocal mike, and the improved quality it provided spurred me on to my most prolific period of recording ever. In just over a week, I completed this EP, the idea of which I'd had for a few months (in fact, the last song, Lantern, was written only a week before it was recorded).
It occured to me that the imperfections, the limitations and the crackles are the kinds of things I like to hear anyway, and that you can't wait forever for a better situation to arrive, and should instead make the most of the situation you find yourself in in the present moment. So, with that in mind, I'd like to introduce my first EP, Music For A Refound Harmonica. As the title suggests, there is at least some harmonica on every track. Every song (except for The Right Thing) was written within the last year or two, and they appear on the EP in the order they were written.
I wanted this whole thing to retain a sense of spontenaiety, so some mistakes and crackles remain, but then again, so do some improvised bits that are that bit more special for being born in the moment they were recorded.
I hope that you enjoy it,
Lots of love,
